A true measure of artistry is the ability to make intricate craft appear effortless. Ed’s command of the guitar is a stunning component of his performance as he glides through a tasteful repertoire that offers his unique stamp on the American songbook. Like Tony Rice, his prime musical influence, Barney serves up an amalgam of styles that showcase a broad range…perfectly melding with the integrity of the songs and his silky smooth vocals. His interpretations are fun to watch and candy to the ears.

Barney has long been associated with bluegrass, as a member of popular regional groups like Stoney Creek and Patent Pending. He is sought after by many for both stage and studio and has been hailed by Bluegrass Unlimited (an industry Bible) as an “outstanding flatpicker.”

Yet, bluegrass only begins to define Barney as he embarks on a solo career launched by his CD, Acoustic Paradigm. He’s comfortably at home with material from the likes of Stephen Stills…Merle Travis…. Dan Fogelberg....James Taylor..even Little Feat. His sensitive rendering of Over the Rainbow is a telling highlight.

Ed started playing at age six and continues to develop his mastery of guitar as well as accomplishment on banjo and mandolin. His music resume includes touring with Up With People and performing for Pope John Paul ll in Rome, Margaret Thatcher in London and Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney in Ottawa.

He wants to perform for you…in listening rooms, clubs, lounges, wineries, festivals…wherever folks appreciate good music and exceptional talent.
